Create The Things You Wished Existed:

Axis Youth Space (Louisburgh) have expanded our existing skill set into the an exciting new tech space right here in Louisburgh Co Mayo. Our tech space is the first of its kind in the area and lots of research, training and planning has already gone into this idea. Our new tech club is a Foróige space with a real difference as this one is all about learning while having fun, improving personal and life skills through tech. Building and coding apps, websites, making basic online games and basic robotics also forms a big part of this new space. Other fun activities include making things like a keyboard with bananas and helicopters from paper cups.

Below is a brief insight into just some of the exiting, fun, opportunities we can offer young people.

Y.E.S:

The Youth Engineering Solutions Programme (Y.E.S. for short) is an exciting and innovative Foróige project funded by the Science Foundation of Ireland (SFI). The programme is supported by leading academic, industry and STEM education collaborators. Aimed at Young People 10 - 18yrs.

Engineering could be a fabulous career for young people! Engineers take ideas and turn them into reality, using science, math and imagination. Engineers are masters of problem-solving and creative design. As a career, engineering offers a chance to make a difference to people's lives. Engineers dream up creative, practical solutions and work with other smart, inspiring people to invent, design, and build things that matter. They are changing the world all the time. Engineers think creatively. Engineering is an ideal outlet for imagination and creative problem solving—the perfect field for independent thinkers.

Kinia;

A message from Kinia; We want to release the energy of creative, resilient young people who are motivated to achieve if given the chance. We develop programmes, scale them across any learning environment, recognise success and celebrate achievements. It aims to become Ireland’s leading creative technology network for educators to train and upskill in digital Creativity and STEAM.

Young People are living in a digital age and a Tech Network exists to enable them to become creators of technology, not just consumers. Providing opportunities for people to engage in Digital Creativity and STEAM activities will allow them to create and make with purpose, impacting lives and inspiring the future.

We design and deliver training, activities, resources and opportunities through English and Irish for youth workers, teachers and volunteers. The programme content such as film-making, animation, soldering, robotics, electronics, mobile journalism, audio production, coding, graphic design, 3D printing, and more helps to develop 21st-century skills such as creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and communication.

Our TechSpace mission:

Our mission is to empower young people to expand their skill set and allow them to explore the real possibilities from their own ideas through tech, art and creativity, we believe this is the way forward. If young people can dream it, our aim is to help them build it. Every young person is different and every young person has a dream and it's our hope to make them dreams a reality. Technology is a key factor in our children's future, so let's try and make it fun.
